Most of you will have read or heard about our great fund-raiser Kath Dempster who works tirelessly to raise both funds and awareness. Most of this is done with her many craft fairs and through her Kaths Krafts for Lupus page.
This year for the second time Kath decided she would have an open house for World Lupus Day. Not only would her wonderful crafts be available but she would organise tea/coffee and cakes. There was also a chance to win one of her teddies.
I was able to attend so set off via Preston to pick up another member who wanted to support the day. We arrived to a warm welcome and a lovely cuppa freshly made by Kath’s husband and caterer for the day!!
The house was already full when I got there but our lovely host managed to find a table and space for a tombola.
For hours there was a hive of activity. People coming in, cakes disappearing, goodies being bought and lots of conversations about lupus.
Kath had raised £250 last year and really hoped she could at least match it. A quick count before I left revealed a total of about £400 but there was all the change and some promised donations to be added. We left leaving a very happy fund-raiser. On the way home Kath phoned to say the total was over £450 but with more promised. Over the next few days donations came in and soon she was able to make a payment to Lupus UK for £500!!!! She had only gone and doubled last years total.
Huge thanks to both Kath and Dave for such a great day. Thanks for the amount raised. Thanks for all you do.
Finally……..what time is next years starting??????? See you on the 10th MAY 2020.
