I have been a member of a local community choir for just over 3 years. We did our first concert 2 years ago in aid of the Manchester Emergency Fund. Since then, we have done various performances for different charities. For our Spring concert, my lovely friends decided that it should be in aid of Lupus UK.
After weeks of rehearsals, we finally held our concert on 21st May. We are split into 2 groups and the week before the concert, it was decided that I would move from group 2 to group 1 as they needed more volume! After weeks of singing in group 2, I had to quickly get to grips with my new part! Our programme consisted of an eclectic mix of songs including Elvis, musical theatre, music from films, rock and pop. It spanned from the 60s right up to recent hits; something to suit most tastes. Some members of choir are keen bakers, so our audience were treated to lots of home baked goodies and refreshments at the interval. Lupus stock was also available to purchase.
When we did the Manchester concert, we raised a substantial amount of money but it was just a few weeks after the attack and everyone was so moved by it. I honestly didn’t think that a small, little known charity as ours would raise anywhere near as much money, but we did!! Our grand total came to £400. I cannot thank my friends and their families and friends enough for their generosity, I was truly blown away.
Thank you to my lovely friends and everyone associated with Rock Up 2 Sing from Stockport.
